Directions With exceptional views, beautiful South Stack is a must see location for all visitors to North Wales. It is set in a spectacular location to the far north-west of Holyhead in Anglesey. The South Stack Lighthouse was built in 1809 to aid the passing ships navigate around the dangerous rocks below. Today you can walk right down to the Lighthouse, but be aware there are more than 400 steps down to the aluminium footbridge and you will have to climb up the steps on your return. If you do make the effort you are in for a treat.
