The royal town of Caernarfon, often referred to as the Capital of North Wales, is the perfect centre for your Snowdonia adventure. Close to the mountains of Snowdonia, beaches of the Llyn Peninsula and the coastline of Anglesey. The town is dominated by the magnificent Caernarfon Castle. Its sheer scale and commanding presence set it apart from the rest, and to this day, still trumpet in no uncertain terms the intention of its builder Edward-I. It was built (work began) in 1283. This was meant to be the definitive chapter in Edward-I conquest of Wales. Not only a military castle, Caernarfon was built as a seat of government and royal palace.
