Llanberis is probably best known as the Snowdon village. It is the home of Snowdon Mountain Railway. This narrow gauge rack & pinion mountain railway has been taking visitors to the summit of Snowdon for over 100 years.
For the more energetic it is also the start of the ‘Llanberis path’, the most popular and probably the easiest of the main 6 routes to the summit of Snowdon.
In most weather conditions it will pose no problems for reasonably fit walkers. The navigation is also quite easy as the path follows the railway track fairly closely. In summer months there will be hordes of people climbing the path to the summit. Perhaps this is why it is known as the Motorway.
