Start in Beddgelert. There are two pay-and-display car parks in Beddgelert. One is on the A4085 (towards Rhyd-Ddu) and the other on the A498 near the steam train station.
During the summer months keep a lookout for the amazing Rhododendron plants as you leave Beddgelert. Amazing not just because of their fabulous explosion of purple flowers but also because of the sheer tenacity of this plant. This is the Terminator of the plant world, as "It will be back". In 2008 and again in 2014 the 'Snowdonia National Park Authority' and 'Natural Resources Wales' embarked on an extensive (and expensive) programme to eradicate this plant. It was rumoured that some £10m would be needed to fully eradicate the plant and I quote: "End the ecological tyranny” posed by Rhododendron. Aha !?! ..... Judging by the number of Rhododendrons outside Beddgelert, all I would say it is Nature 1 Man 0.
Make your way down to the footbridge over Glaslyn/Colwyn rivers. Cross the footbridge and turn left. Keep the river Glaslyn to your left and continue along the path, past the Sygun Copper Mine, until you reach the shore of Llyn Dinas.
Follow the footpath on the south of Llyn Dinas (keep Llyn Dinas to your left), until it joins the A498 on the north side of the Llyn. Cross the A498 turning right. Follow the road for about 4 minutes and you will reach Caffi Gwynant, near the start of the Watkin path to Snowdon summit. Well done, you have made it to the end of the path.
Caffi Gwynant is a fabulous little cafe with a great menu serving amazingly good food in this wonderful location. No wonder it has a 5-star Tripadvisor rating. It is the perfect place for a drink, snack or a more substantial meal before you head back to Beddgelert.
